deepseek-harness-desktop

Windows desktop wrapper for DeepSeek Harness. The application keeps the upstream Web UI intact and manages the local DSH server as a Node.js sidecar.

Development

Prerequisites: Node.js 24, Rust stable MSVC, Visual Studio Build Tools with the Desktop development with C++ workload, and the WebView2 Runtime.

Production packaging

npm run bundle

prepare:runtime creates a local, pinned Node.js and DSH runtime bundle. The release artefact must be built on each target architecture. The runtime archive is intentionally excluded from Git because it is generated and too large for normal source control.

Security model

The Rust process selects a loopback-only port, starts DSH with an explicit working directory, waits for its health page, and closes it with the window. The webview has no direct Tauri filesystem or shell permissions. DSH retains its own workspace approval and credential model.
